The Drawing Board hosts regular art classes, product demos and art parties in our studio/classroom, and around Corvallis. Our aim is to get folks to try making art, and to connect with other creative people.

Class: Introduction to Acrylic Painting
A beginning look at acrylic painting. I’ll be covering supplies, basic composition, basiccolor theory, and paint application. Sort through all the available materials and simplify so you can get to the fun part - painting! We will work and finish one 8x10 still life or landscape painting each session. Please wear clothing you can get paint on. Beginners welcome!

Class: Beginning Drawing
Basic drawing for absolute beginners, all ages. You will learn what materials to use, how to set up and start a drawing, and how to look at objects to draw them accurately and realistically. Class: Art Journaling
We’ll be familiarizing you with the expressive world of Art Journaling and give you some basic pointers on starting your own Art Journal. Be ready to play with paint, paper, photos, ink, oil pastels and more! We will have a few for sale the day of the class. Ages 10 and up (sharp tools).

Class: Mini Magnet Making
Come learn how to make your own mini masterpiece magnets! We’ll work with layers of paint, stamps and paint markers to create tiny works of art. Each student will make up to 6 mini canvas magnets (2x2 each). Ages 10 and up (small pieces). Taught by Rachel Urista. (View her work here!)

Friday, July 26, 1:00pm – 3:30pm, at The Drawing Board
Postponed Class: Silk Painting with a Resist
Learn ancient process of silk painting with a resist, similar to batiking. The class will practice the use of resist, silk dyes, as well as painting and dye setting techniques. You will also complete your own hand-painted silk scarf with your own design. Please bring designs or pictures for your 11 X 11 scarf. All artistic levels welcome. Taught by Dana Monroe.

Art Parties (Creative things-to-do)
Paint Party! A public drop-in event
Every Other Friday afternoon, we put out the paint & canvases and just paint, right here our little downtown shop. Anyone can drop in and paint. Bring your friends and/or kiddos. If we get enough people together, we can do collaborative painting games.
Fees: $3 per person, plus any canvas you want to take home.

Drink & Draw! Hosted by The Majestic Theatre
On the First Wednesday of every month, The Drawing Board sponsors this FREE Public Event at The Majestic Theatre. Hang out and draw with some other art-loving folks. All ages and talent levels welcome. We bring the art supplies! There will be cheap drinks (soft drinks and 21+) and snacks!

Rent The Drawing Board's Studio/Classroom
We are currently building up our Studio/Classroom space. There will be tables and chairs enough for a dozen people or so, plus a small lounge area. The space will be open to rent for artists, art teachers and organizations, in 2-1/2 hour blocks. Please call for details: 541.224.3797.
