Cesar Chávez (born César Estrada Chávez, locally [ˈ sesaɾ is ˈ t-aða ˈ tãaβes]; March 31, 1927 – April 23, 1993) was an American labor leader and civil rights activist who, along with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Association of workers Agriculture (later the Union of workers of the United Farm, UFW) in 1962.
