The Father’s Day is a celebration that honors parents and celebrates kinship, parental ties and the influence of parents in society. In Catholic Europe, it was celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph’s Day) since the Middle Ages. This celebration was held by the Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where on March 19 is often still used for it, although large numbers countries in Europe and the Americas adopted the date of the United States, which is the third Sunday of June. It is held in several days in large numbers parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, and June. It complements similar celebrations in honor of family members, such as Mother’s Day, brothers ‘ day and grandparents ‘ day.
In the United States, Dodd used the “Parents ‘ Day” spelling in his original holiday petition, nevertheless the spelling “Father’s Day” was already used in 1913 when a bill was introduced in the United States Congress as the first intention or to adjust the holiday, and was spelled still in the alike way when its creator was praised at 2008 by the United States Congress.
