Lucana (ルカリオ ruka,/lu ː ˈ KDE ː rioque, IDE-/) is a Pokémon type in the Nintendo Pokémon franchise and Game Freak. Created by Ken Sugimori, Lucana first appeared as a central character in the movie Pokémon: Lucana and the Mystery of Mew, and later appeared in the video games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and subsequent sequels, also appearing in several commodities, Spin-off of animated and printed titles and adaptations of the franchise. Lucana is performed by Daisuke Namikawa, Daisuke Sakaguchi, Rikako Aikawa and Kiyotaka Furushima in Japanese, and Bill Rogers and Sean Schemmel in English. Lucana has been shown in large numbers episodes of Pokemon anime and in the games as well.
Known as the Aura Pokémon, Lucana can detect and manipulate aura (波導 hadō), a special kind of energy that is emitted by every living creatures. Lucana also appears as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. since its debut in the Pokémon series, Lucana received a usually positive reception. It has appeared in several forms of merchandise, including figurines, stuffed toys and the Pokémon collectible card game.
The main role of Lucana in the anime is his appearance in the eighth movie of Pokémon, Pokémon: Lucana and the Mystery of Mew. In the film, Lucana is a servant of a nobleman named Sir Aaron in a renaissance thematic city called Cameron Palace. Aaron had trained this Lucano to manipulate aura. Lucana thinks of Sir Aaron as his master and intimate friend, though after Aaron caught him in a magic cane at the beginning of the film, Lucana begins to question any Pokémon-human relationship. The Lucana in the film, expressed in English by Sean Schemmel, can speak human tongues with telepathy. Lucana sacrificed himself to save the tree from the beginning, though the credits showed him to Sir Aaron in the afterlife, where he cheerfully ate a bar of chocolate.
