Optimus Prime, known in Japan as a convoy (コンボイ Konboi), is a superhero robot character of the franchise of Transformers superheroes robots. He is the leader of the Autobots, a group of intelligent modular Robotic life-forms of autoconfiguration (e.g. cars and other objects). It often appears in popular culture.

Optimus Prime (formerly Orion Pax) is constantly, if not always depicted as having a strong moral character, excellent leadership, and solid decision-making skills, and possesses brilliant military tactics, powerful martial arts, and advanced Extraterrestrial weapons. Optimus Prime has a strong sense of honor and justice, dedicating itself to building a peaceful and mutually beneficial coexistence with human beings, protecting the life and freedom of every sentient species. As the current carrier of the leadership matrix, Optimus Prime is the de facto leader of the Autobots, a faction of a transforming type of synthetic intelligence from the planet Cybertron. The Autobots are constantly waging civil war against a rival faction of transforming robots called Decepticons. According to Bob Budiansky, co-screenwriter of the Transformers series, Dennis O’Neil was responsible for his name.

Optimus Prime is usually portrayed as a member of an old Transformers race called the Primes dynasty, often receiving the title “The Last prime ” In large numbers stories, in which it is depicted as the last of the primes. In the Transformers: Covenant of Primus, it was established that Optimus Prime was the last born of the thirteen original Transformers. It was his extraordinary spark and his inspiring confidence that “All are one ” that permited the primes to gather and succeed in their battle against the Chaos Bringer Unicron. When at last the tragedy ended with the era of the primes and brought with it the new breed of minor transformers, he only chose to be reborn in the well of every the sparks as one of them, so that he could know them and his needs more completely. All the memory of his past life gone, took the name of “Orion pax ” and searched his way like any other robot in the New World becoming Optimus Prime once again by receiving the leadership matrix when Cybertron faced a new foe in his anti Friend Guo, Megatron and his army of followers, the Decepticons. This brings a great war to your Cybertron planet. The origins of Optimus and personality may vary depending on which “universe ” you have seen in. This origin is the most consistent among the various incarnations. Other differences are listed in the respective sections below.

In the online CGI animated cartoon missions produced by TG Studios for the Hasbro blog, Optimus is once again seen fighting Megatron, this time with some assist from Sideswipe. Optimus also helps Ironhide against Mindwipe.
